Paper Mache Commissioned Items

My affinity for newsprint began when I was 6years old and began to help my big brother with his paper round on Sundays.  I loved the way the ink rubbed off on my hands and by the time we had finished the Berridale Caravan Park my hands were coated in grey, reddish.  Heaven on a stick, so I hope you enjoy these pieces which are completed recycled.

Also thank you to Better Homes and Gardens whose special two years ago reminded me how flexible this material is.  It is also irresistible tactical, tuff and surprisingly waterproof. Note: Best cleaned with a damp soapy sponge then rinse and dry, never ever soak this product.

Solar Sun with extra Smiles, a wall hanging which is now behind the bar of a private pool

.............so when i found myself with a spare rainbow helmet and a leaf....it was obvious to me. Make Jack climbing  up the Bean Stalk Wall Hanging with the giant waiting at the top..... and sure enough a Mother bought it for her Sons room make-over, she tells me it acts as a motivator and his sunglasses holder.

Another Wall tile, these tiles seem to becoming functional living pieces within a space so in the next one, obviously a strawberry dougnut was required. However the Aspire tile below hasn't to my knowledge become a piece of working art.  The new owner was astounded to notice the word Aspire is in the waves below the mermaid. Having lived with the piece for over a year she never tires of it because the piece is constantly affected by light its truly never the same.

The same client requested a bright chirpy organic city for foyer

Every girl in the world at some stage has a Mermaid fascination and this young client needed a guardian mermaid real size please to watch over her at night.

Then a completely different brief came in for a crucifix that encapsulated the spirit of resurrection and transformation.  It was a challenging brief which gave me new insight into proportioning and was to become my first free standing piece.  Its easier in pictures........

....... so the client and i decided to go in a completely different direction and went in a heavenly direction....

then the piece was finished and a new conversation began with each viewer

Then an remarkable lady requested I make her christmas presents for the season most are practical everyday pieces and are enjoyed daily in their new homes.  My client is considering next season list as we speak.
